Young talents and seniors come together: Wiener Symphoniker celebrate 125 years!

Liebhartstal, Wien, Österreich - Vienna, the city of music, is celebrating a special occasion this year: The Viennese symphonists look back on 125 years. This anniversary is celebrated with a variety of events that not only illuminate the music culture in Vienna, but also strengthen the connection between the generations. A highlight of these celebrations took place in the Liebhartal pensioner house, where young and old musicians experienced the power of music together.

A cross -generational project was launched to find out how people celebrate festivals and what role the music plays. 48 students from VS Grundsteingasse, some residents of the Liebharstal house and 15 apprentices from youth are involved. This initiative enables the participants: inside, to bring in their individual experiences and musical preferences and to come to a common musical presentation. Jan Nast, the director of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, particularly emphasizes the connecting power of the music that comes into play in these projects.

make music together and celebrate

The results of this creative cooperation were presented in a concert in the Liebhartal house. The music not only serves as a form of expression, but also as a bridge between the generations. The participants also research how they experience Vienna as their homeland and discuss whether there are possible similarities in their musical preferences. These intergenerational workshops aim to find new answers to the question of how the Wienerlied could be reinterpreted.

The celebration will soon continue: On Friday, June 13th, the next musical highlights in the Sandleitenhof will be on the program. This concert on the 100th anniversary of the Sandleitenhof also promises to become an exciting experience. From 4 p.m., all interested parties are cordially invited to enjoy the sounds and melodies of the Viennese symphonists.
