In the 21st district of Vienna, the new concept of Volkshilfe Vintage shop in Floridsdorf has established itself a refreshing concern. The head of the Volkshilfe Wien, Claudia Bernatz, emphasizes that the classic sorting of the shop was rethought. Products are presented in eleven thematically curated pavilions and thus offer a very special shopping experience.

visitors can look forward to a unique atmosphere: over 100 Ikea-Kallax shelves have been collected and combined with old fruit boxes to design the walls of the pavilions. The students who have participated in this project created eleven different living environments that range from a country house pavilion to a "Wiener Café" and the dazzling "Studio 54".

An example is an alarm clock called Günther, who tells his own story and stimulates the imagination.

The items on display come from donations and evacuations and not only open the opportunity to do good business, but also promote the circular economy. The project also offers long -term unemployed the opportunity to gain a foothold in the labor market, which brings another positive aspect to the community. The “Wonderland” pavilion that is dedicated to kitsch requires frequent re-enactment, which underlines the interactivity and commitment of visitors.

Sustainable fashion is not just a trend, but becomes increasingly the norm. Vintage second-hand shops play a central role here; They promote reuse, recycling and extend the lifespan of clothing, which also shows the development path in the fashion industry. The purchase of second-hand clothing can save up to 82 % CO₂ emissions and thus actively contribute to environmental protection. Vintage mode not only offers high-quality craftsmanship, but also inspires modern designers and promotes upcycling.

For example, there was an anniversary event last December, in which influencers such as Christl Clear and Vice-Miss-Austria 2023, Sandra Bleidt, donated personal favorite pieces for a good cause.
