Maria Alm, Österreich - Last weekend in Maria Alm the 10th Hochkönig-Man in Trailrunning took place and set new standards. The event attracted numerous athletes, including the sibling duo Anna-Sophie and Maximilian, who started for the association "In the Forest". Both faced the challenge of the Speedtrail over 20 kilometers with 1,000 meters of altitude. And with full success: Anna-Sophie secured the overall victory, while her brother Maximilian narrowly hit second place. The two ran with a new course record and showed that they are among the best. It is particularly noteworthy that the male winning duo only finished 40 seconds behind Maximilian, which made competition even more exciting. As reports VOL.AT, it is clear: The sibling couple has a good hand for the TrailRunning-Sport!

The Hochkönig-Man can be imagined as a real highlight in the Austrian trail run. The event has continued to develop over the years and is very popular. The response of around 1466 runners from 37 nations at the last Skyrace in 2021 speaks for itself. As described xc-run.de, there were also exciting innovations this year that made the event even more attractive. The starter group is distributed over a variety of competitions that range from the Kids Trail for the youngest to the demanding Skyrace distances.

The Hochkönig-Man not only offers the opportunity for professionals to test their limits. Hobby runners and children also get their money's worth in different age groups. The event includes disciplines from the U6 children's run to extreme routes of over 80 kilometers. A highlight is the Endurance Trail, which came up in 2021 with 85.3 km and 5,160 meters of altitude. Here Alexander Marcel Westenberger set a new route record with 9 hours and 56 minutes.

Whatever is important to you: the Hochkönig-Man is not just a competition, but a real festival. The event traditionally begins with a flag parade and an impressive fire show, followed by social gathering at a barbecue evening in swallowing woodpecker and a relaxed brunch on Tom’s hut. In this way, sport is combined with fun and community and attracts new fans every year.

One thing is clear: With this concept, the Hochkönig-Man remains very popular in the trail running. Fans and participants are already looking forward to the next event! For 2022, new plans are already in the drawer that are supposed to further promote trail running.
