Strong cohesion: Innovation conference on the future of tourism!
The third Euregio network meeting Bavaria/Tirol, which recently took place in the congress center in Seefeld, Tyrol, asked the soft-hitting question: How resilient is our tourism? Under the motto "Resilience in tourism- innovation and cooperation across borders", local and regional politicians and tourist players from the Europeanized Alpine region gathered on May 20 to develop sustainable concepts for the future. The organizers, EUREGIO Zugspitze-Wetterstein-Karwendel and the Office of the Tyrolean state government, aimed at strengthening the cross-border cooperation and discussing innovative approaches to the Alpine region, such as merkur.de reports.
In his opening speech, Andreas Reiter from the ZTB Zukunftsbüro addressed the challenges with which tourism is confronted: climate change, seasonal dependency and the shortage of skilled workers are among the major issues that slow growth in the region. Rider also advocated innovative approaches that combine digitization and sustainable development. Three exciting projects were also presented as part of the event. For example, the FH Kufstein offers a course on the “resilience manager in tourism”, while the Ammergau Alps and Karwendel nature park start a visitor monitoring in cooperation with outdooractive. Another focus is on inclusion in the Reutte recreation area, where a new classification system of hiking trails is to be developed. These are all steps that aim to make tourism in the region future -proof, and they show the will for cooperation across national borders.
future -oriented projects and strategies
The Euregio network meeting not only served the exchange, but also as a platform for the presentation of current initiatives. This course also includes various projects that are funded as part of the Interreg program Bavaria-Austria VI-A 2021-2027. Innovative spaces in cities such as Passau, Ried and Schärding are created that should support small and medium-sized companies in the border area, as Interreg-bayaut.net explains.
Both the "Life -worthy Alpine region" initiative as well as the "future -proof digitization" focus on sustainable development and the preservation of ecological diversity. The projects combine workshops, surveys and digital tools to meet the needs of the population and to make the region future -proof.
The final framework of the meeting was an excursion to the historic Holzerhütte in Scharnitz. There the participants got an insight into the history of wood use and, last but not least, enjoyed a traditional Kaiserschmarrn. In a relaxed atmosphere, the importance of sustainable and inclusive tourism was discussed-an important part of the future strategy for the European region of Bavaria.
Overall, the Euregio network meeting offered a valuable opportunity to discuss local challenges and promote cross-border ideas that will benefit not only tourism but also in the entire region.
