Quarter miles in East Tyrol: The asphalt quake of motorsport professionals!

On Saturday, August 2, Lienz-Nikolsdorf airfield becomes the scene of a rapid spectacle: the acceleration race over a quarter mile is just around the corner. The Motorsport Club Dölsach has already received all permits for the event that will start at 11 a.m. With an admission price of only 10 euros, with children up to 14 years of free admission, a large number of viewers are expected, similar to the last host in 2018, were present when around 6,000 motorsport enthusiasts were present.

The event will be shaped by a colorful mix of vehicles, including formula and racing cars, all-wheel drive vehicles, series cars, motorcycles, go-karts and prototypes. The separate rating for women is particularly noteworthy. Also this year, numerous prominent participants are expected, such as Patrick Friesacher, who starts with a Red Bull Nascar racer, and Günther Schachermayer, who is known as a world record holder and Stuntman.

A special highlight of the race will be Ingo Gerstl, which will occur with a Toro-Rosseo-formula 1 car (STR1). This impressive car, which has ten cylinders and a V3.0 engine, was designed by the artist Jos Pirkner from Tristach. Gerstl has been active in the "Boss GP" racing series for ten years and can look back on a total of eight overall victories, including seven with the Toro Rosso Str1.

The "Boss GP" was founded in Great Britain in 1995 and has since developed into an internationally recognized racing series that is organized under the roof of the Austrian Automobile and Motorsport Association (AMF). This series is known for its spectacular unit racing car, which are also used at events such as the ADAC Hockenheim Historic, where Ingo Gerstl recently won both races of the BOSS GP F1 class.

It not only shows the enthusiasm for motorsport in the region, but also offers a platform for drivers who fight for fame and honor in various vehicle categories. In 2025, the BOSS GP season continues on six European race tracks, and the race in Lienz is an important part of this exciting season.

Participants like Ulf Ehninger and Thomas Jakoubek from the Boss GP series could also have found their place in the race. Jakoubek, who was most recently successful in Hockenheim, is looking forward to new challenges. The next races will start at the Nürburgring in a month and continue the tradition of exciting competitions.
