Sisters lead lively olala festival spirit after father's death
Lienz, Österreich - in Lienz will be celebrated this year from July 22nd to 26th Olala Straßentheater and Circus Festival. Under the direction of Elisa and Theresa Mutschlechner, the daughters of Hans Mutschlechner, who died last year, the festival promises to be the most important street theater event in the region. The sisters have decided to continue their father's legacy and make the festival a colorful spectacle. In the past few months, they have worked hard to put together with a proven team and the experiences they have been able to draw from their father's estate to create a varied program.
Theresa, who works as a teacher in Landeck, and Elisa, who works as an event manager in Salzburg, both work full -time, but they lift the festival with all their hearts. As early as August 2022, they started preparing, immersed in their father's emails and videos and tried to understand their artistic visions to make this year's festival even more exciting. The concept at this year's event has also been revised: instead of a central stage, the festival will take place at various hotspots in the city center, around the main square and on the Iselkai, which is transformed into a "light garden".
variety on the program
This year's festival has the motto "variety" and offers an exciting line-up with 32 groups from 18 different countries. One of the highlights is the opening by the Italian Cardinal Group, which will inspire visitors with its “Flying Piano”. The pianist is worn at dizzying heights of balloons and will be visible everywhere in the main square. Another center of attention is the metaphysical circus "L’Ahbell" by the French artists "Les Choses de Rien". This circus treats existential topics and lets the audience take part in a silo in a twelve -meter high.
The groups perform decentrally and offer a number of walking acts, music and street shows. Among other things, one can look forward to the juggling world champion of "Jonglissimo", the well-known magician Chris Stark as well as the breathtaking performances of "Teatro Pavana", which will shine with costumes and 170 meter long fairy lights. Further performances from the "new circus" of Cia.pakipaya and Flip Fabrique complete the program. The tickets are already scarce at the paid shows, some remaining tickets are available.
a legacy full of emotions
The sisters emphasize how important it is to honor their father and use the festival as a platform for art and culture. "It is more than just a festival for us. It helps to process grief," said Elisa at the press conference. The beginning of the festival on July 22, the first day of death of Hans Mutschlechner is particularly symbolic. Supported by sponsors and the tourism association, the sisters mobilized a team of committed helpers to continue the father's mission.
The extensive program is available for two euros, and further information can be read on the official website www.olala.at . A festival is expected for the whole family, in which culture and community are in the foreground.
When the festival starts in Lienz, visitors can look forward to numerous surprises and unforgettable moments. In its 34th edition, the Olala Festival will not only be a diagram for art and entertainment, but also an impressive testimony of the family heritage of Mutschlechner. The anticipation is great and the cohesion of the community makes this event something very special.
