Zams supports first graders: 150 euros for a good school start!
In the municipality of Zams, the relief for families is further reinforced: Mayor Benedikt Lentsch has announced that the "school start money for first graders" will continue in the coming school year. This gives all children who switch from kindergarten to elementary school, vouchers worth 150 euros. These can be picked up from the municipal office from mid -August. This is particularly important, because according to a current study, the price for a school bag with the necessary utensils for first graders is around 270 euros. In times when prices increase in many places, this article is a welcome support to enable all children to start a good start to the new school year, regardless of the financial possibilities of families.
The Zams municipal council expected a total of around 3,450 euros for 23 children in September. The municipality, awarded the "Family-friendly community" certificate and the UNICEF supplement certificate "Child-friendly community", relies on a variety of grants. In addition to the start of school, a free kindergarten is also offered for the younger children. All of this shows a good hand for families in the region.
additional financial support
But Zams is not alone: there are also numerous grants at the state level that are supposed to support families. The platform family card reports from various offers in Upper Austria. This includes tutoring, support for school events and even special help for socially needy students. In this way, families can receive up to 100 euros per student with proven need. There are also grants for school trips that vary between 75 and 150 euros depending on the school level. All of these measures aim to promote learning success and to compensate for learning deficits, which is essential today.
Another offer is the federal school start aid. This year this is 116.10 euros for children between the ages of 6 and 15 and will automatically be paid out in August together with family allowance without additional applications. Around 900,000 children across Austria already benefit from this initiative, which has been introduced since last year. This gives families additional support in order to be able to cover the costs for the start of school, bmb.gv.at reports.
FAZIT
All of these efforts show that there are efforts in Zams and beyond that to improve educational opportunities for all children and to help parents in these challenging times. The focus is clearly on relief and support in order to minimize the high financial hurdle when the school starts and ensure that every child can start well. Whether in Zams or in the neighboring regions, the connection to school education must be possible for everyone.
