Chaos on Munich's streets: Champions League final attracts tens of thousands!
München, Deutschland - in the heart of Munich it rumbles tremendously today-the Champions League final day is finally here! From May 31, 2025, the Bavarian capital becomes the scene of a spectacular football event, and for both locals and fans. The streets of the city are already clearly showing that the journey will be anything but relaxed for numerous spectators.
“Caution, lots of traffic!” Are the recommendations of the police who advise you to leave the car standing. Instead, one should switch to public transport. In this sense, the Munich Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) provides increased offer. From 1 p.m. U-Bahnen run from the city center to Fröttmaning, whereby a train will be available every three minutes from 3 p.m. The final between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan will kick off at 9 p.m. Until then, the city is expecting an almost incredible number of football fans from France and Italy who make their way to the stadium.
fanzones and traffic management
The anticipation is noticeable in the whole city, especially on the three big fanzones in the Munich Football Arena. These fans offer fans the opportunity to follow the game in a convivial atmosphere. In order to counteract a possible chaos on arrival, the Bavarian Regiobahn (BRB) uses additional trains: last connections from Munich to popular excursion destinations such as Tegernsee, Lenggries and Bayrischzell drive at 1.10 a.m., while the trains go to Rosenheim, Kufstein and Traunstein at 1:00 a.m.
But not only the journey is presenting the city with challenges. Even after the final whistle, it could be tight: bottlenecks at the subway station are recorded, and for security reasons the train station could be temporarily closed. Such precautions are also derived from the "Recommendations for Transport and Crowd Management for Events", which the Research Society for Road and Transportation (FGSV) wrote. These recommendations aim to maintain public security interests and to guarantee an orderly traffic volume. Security and traffic standards must be guaranteed at any time during the game and beyond at all times.
timetables and ticket use
Who the arrival and departure stress is too much can look forward to the pleasant regulation: Tickers for the final may use the subway, tram, bus and S-Bahn in the zones m to 6 on the matchday without an additional ticket. That should bring a little relief, especially if the filled trains are affected by human snakes after the game.
So that at the end of the day for everyone, extensive information and notices from the MVG can also be expected. An additional note: If you want to fill up with some mood before the big game, you should not miss the open-air events-the Champions Festival has been running since May 29 and offers numerous entertaining attractions in the Olympic Park, including a concert by Dua Lipa. The subway line 8 is particularly recommended in this context.
for all fans and visitors: If you want to find out more about the bus diversions, timetables and other changes, you should regularly visit the MVG website and the MVGO app. The big football evening is just around the corner - Munich is preparing and the anticipation is within reach!
