Kufstein, Österreich - In Tyrol, the crime rate has increased noticeably in the past few days. Between May 29 and June 1, 2025, a total of 33 newspaper coffers were stolen in several municipalities such as Angath, Angerberg, Bad Häring, Ellmau, Kirchbichl, Kufstein, Schwoich and Söll. Another annoying event was a robbery in Innsbruck on June 2 at 6:40 p.m. A 36-year-old Syrian citizen snatched his handbag from a 33-year-old Austrian and got out of dust with cash and a cell phone. The search for the perpetrator has so far been unsuccessful.

The copper thefts and their backgrounds

In the period from May 16 to June 13, 2023, 496 meters of copper cables were stolen in a motorway construction site in St. Pankraz. The perpetrators, two men, used a van to roll out the cables, cut them through and then load them. After their arrest, the theft was clarified and the men were brought to the Garsten prison.

The constant increase in such thefts shows that crime in different forms unfortunately remains an issue. Around 5.63 million crimes were recorded in Germany in 2022, including 1.78 million thefts.
