Swedish ski ace Axel Lindqvist after broken leg: I come back!

Grenoble, Frankreich - The Swedish ski racer Axel Lindqvist suffered a serious injury in a training camp in France. The 24-year-old suffered a lower leg fracture that affects both shine and fabric. This injury not only caused the early end of his summer training, but also has an impact on his season planning. In an Instagram post from the hospital in Grenoble, Lindqvist reported on June 1 of "a complex surgery and a lot of pain", but he remains optimistic and announced: "I will come back".

The time of the injury is particularly bitter, because Lindqvist has shown promising services in the European Cup in the past few months and gained his first experience in the World Cup. His best result in the European Cup was a 7th place in the slalom in Berchtesgaden in January 2024. A comeback date was not mentioned, but the words of the Sweden give hope for a return on the slopes soon.

pain and rehabilitation

Lindqvist mentioned in his post that the injury is very painful and requires a complex operation in which a market nail and wire center layers were used to stabilize. Such injuries are not an isolated case in the Alpine Ski. As atos clinics , the knee is the most common injury region in skiers. Around a third of all ski injuries affect the knee, which is due to the high loads during skiing.

Rehabilitation after knee surgery requires a targeted and consistent approach. Experts recommend individual therapy approaches and realistic objectives for returning to sport. The psychological constitution of the patient also plays a crucial role here.

While Axel Lindqvist has so far been unable to collect points in the World Cup, he took part in two slalom events in Austria last year. There he was also denied the jump into the dot length. However, he did not lose his ambition, and he quotes Arnold Schwarzenegger: "I'll be back".

The coming months will be crucial for both his physical and mental preparation for returning to the World Cup. If everything goes well, Lindqvist could start the new season with a strengthened self -confidence and maybe soon cause a stir in skiing.
