Kaiserwinkl Open 2025: Parag director conquer the sky over Kössen!

On the last weekend in May, the Unterberg in Kössen turned into an impressive stage for the Austrian State Championships in Paragleiten. The event organized by the Para Delta Club attracted a total of 140 pilots from 18 different nations. Among them were also participants from Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Croatia, the USA, Canada and China.

Despite the not optimal weather forecasts, the weather was shown by its constant side and gave the participants three flight days with numerous sunny hours. The first day of the competition started with a 55 -kilometer zigzag course, where 68 participants flew between Unterberghorn, snaps, Peternhof and Zame emperor. Fortunately, everyone reached the landing site. The good atmosphere was supported by the band "Skipping Stones", which entertained the audience and participants until the evening.

The second day of competition was waiting for the best conditions: 79 pilots flew a 92 km long distance between Kössen, Lofer and Ebbs, the base increase up to 3700 meters. On Sunday, 65 participants completed a 38 km route around the Kaiserwinkl area. The overall winners, as well as the protagonists of the various rating categories, can look forward to hand -carved trophies from Kössen.

The high performance and the team spirit of the participants were also clear in the demanding aircraft. The tasks led the pilots over routes of up to 120 kilometers, starting at the Unterberghorn, which rises at 1700 meters above sea level. Spectators were able to follow the exciting competitions from the terrace of the bear hut, while the Para Delta Club offered regional specialties such as grill meat.

The coming weekends also promise high tension: If the weather conditions are bad, the replacement date from June 19 to 22, 2025 is set.

After the successes of the past few days, the participants and organizers are convinced. The event has shown how much momentum and enthusiasm to bring paragliding into the region. For the pilots, it was clear: These championships will be remembered - not only because of the great success, but also because of the wonderful ambient in the Kaiserwinkl.
