Riedlingen in accordion fever: successful participation in the World Music Festival!
What's going in Riedlingen? The anticipation for the "World Music Festival", which takes place in Innsbruck from May 29 to June 1, 2025, is tangible. A large coach will drive 24 talented members of the Riedlingen accordion orchestra on May 30, 2025. This year it is serious, because the musicians compete against over 3,000 international participants and have prepared intensively. The orchestra has been meeting every Monday evening for over half a year to rehearse for the competition.
The conductor Cornelia Cammerer heads the group at the game of a modern work by Hans-Günther Kölz entitled "My Switzerland". The approximately 15-minute piece, which consists of presenting various language regions in Switzerland musically, is divided into four sentences and meets the required season for the rating. In a total of 355 evaluation appearances, the jury will evaluate the performances according to criteria such as musicality, performance and piece selection. Already at its last participation in 2016, the orchestra was able to cut off with "excellent" in the same category.
behind the scenes of the festival
The event takes place in the Congress and Messe Innsbruck (CMI) and is the 14th edition of the "World Music Festival". In combination with the day of the Harmonika of the Harmona Association of Austria, the event promises a great spectacle. Around 160 registered orchestras and ensembles from all over the world are expected and the registration deadline has already expired. In addition, the organizers have put together an exciting supporting program that enables the participants to also visit other orchestras and collect inspiration.
On the opening evening, May 29, a "Tyrolean evening" is waiting for the guests, followed by the event "Scordeon in the square" on Friday, at the renowned orchestra such as the Hohner Akordeonorchester. On Saturday evening, the “evening of the nations” is on the program, in which artists like Vladimir Stupnikov and Vangardion appear.
organizational challenges
Of course, participation in such a large -scale festival also brings with it high personal investments. Travel, hotel accommodation, meals and starting fees, have to be financed, which is a significant burden for the teammates. In order to facilitate the rehearsals during the journey, a rehearsal room in Innsbruck was rented so that the musicians do not have to practice on the bus.
The expectations of the players are high. The thumb is pressed for the score on May 30th and they hope for a positive evaluation by the jury. The participants look forward to this special musical challenge with friends and families and invite all music lovers to visit the festival.
