Innsbruck teamball tournament: 350 children celebrate friendship and sport!
On May 28, 2025, a sporting highlight was celebrated again in Innsbruck: the big teamball final tournament at the elementary school Saggen, more precisely the Siebererschule. With over 350 children from 20 different third classes, the rush was enormous. This event followed the footsteps of its predecessors and was held for the twelfth time. The goal of the tournament was not only the teamball champion's determination for the school year 2024/25, but also the promotion of the exchange between schools and the joy in movement. MeinDzirk reports that the project was launched by the directors Gerlinde Prazeller and Wolfgang Kofler.
In autumn 2024, the 20 participating classes were drawn together in ten partner classes. These not only took part in the teamball, but also visited each other, exchanged letters and emails and brought each other to healthy snacks. In this way, numerous new friendships were created between schools. The city of Innsbruck also made a valuable contribution to the event by providing T-shirts with the teamball logo and specially branded balls.
sporting highlights and winners
The tournament took place in the picturesque school garden of the Siebererschule and started at 8:30 a.m. The matches were held in pairings from the partner classes, whereby the points of both halves were added up to determine an overall trend. This year, a record of over 500 pupils was reached, such as Regionews.
At the end of the tournament, the “Black Panther” team from the elementary schools in All Saints and Mariahilf was able to take home the winner's cup. The “Blue Pirates” by VS Arzl and VS Dreiligen secured second place, while the “Tigers” from VS IGLS-Vill and VS took third place. City councilor Elisabeth Mayr ceremoniously presented the trophies and congratulated all participants on their impressive performance.
a win-win situation for everyone
The teamball project not only produced sporting success, but also promoted a valuable social exchange. The initiative reflects the general tendency to bring schools and sports clubs closer together to help children and young people with integration and motivation. Specialist portal pedagogy emphasizes that such cooperation for children are important for various social backgrounds. Sports activity can offer these young people social recognition, while schools benefit from being relieved.
Overall, the teamball closing tournament was a complete success and put a happy ending behind an active school year. It is to be hoped that this great event will continue in the future and that many other children are enthusiastic.
