Imst, Österreich - Günther Platter, a formative figure of Tyrolean politics, has left some footprint with its versatile life path and over 36 years of political career. His career began in 1976 at the Federal Gazette, where he worked in both Landeck and Imst. The entry into politics followed in the Zams municipal council in 1986, and it should not be long before Platter also gained awareness as the mayor of this community. He took numerous offices over the years, including National Council, Minister of Defense, Minister of the Interior, State Councilor and finally Governor. His term as governor of Tyrol, which lasted 14 years and in which he entered for many pioneering projects such as the Landeck tunnel and a balanced budget.
But there were no opposition voices. Critics complained, among other things, that he had not undertaken enough against truck traffic on the burner route and that reforms were often hesitated. In pandemic, too, especially with regard to the events in Ischgl, he got a few kicks into the side and was criticized for the fact that Tyrol reacted too late to the incidents. Despite all of these challenges, Platter 2022 did the hat and announced that it no longer runs for the next state election - a step that made big waves in Tyrolean politics. Governor Anton Mattle particularly recognized Platter publicly and emphasized the importance of a respectful manner in politics, which is important for the future of his successor.

Platter is not only a politician, but also a passionate volunteer. He worked on a voluntary basis for over 15 years and founded the "Tirol Network" to support people in need. He has also been President of the Zams music band for 22 years and was committed to 23 years as President of the Tyrolean Trachtenverband. Another remarkable title is his role as the state colonel master of the Tyrolean Schützenbund for 14 years.
Günther Platter received a total of 16 awards in the course of his career, including three honorary citizenships. For his special merits, he is now also awarded the honorary ring of the state of Tyrol, an honor that will only be given a few. Six people are currently wearing this ring, with the number of excellent people to be limited to 15 living people.
