Hike to the healing pilgrimage church: a trip for the soul!

Maria Fieberbründl, Österreich - On June 5, 2025, 45 senior experienced: Inside a fantastic hike from St. Johann near Herberstein to Maria Feberbründl. The route, which could be covered in about an hour, led it to one of the most famous pilgrimage churches in Styria, which has been known for its healing forces since 1879. The hike was organized by Karl and Gerti Straußberger, which led the group safely through the idyllic landscapes of the Middle Feistritztal. Chairman Hermann Zaunschule in the end thanked all participants: inside and the organizers for their commitment.

The pilgrimage church of Maria Feberbründl, which has its roots in the 19th century, can look back on an impressive story. The first mention of a small wooden chapel and a hermit dates from 1864, while the altar area of ​​today's church was built in 1879 according to the plans of the architect Robert Mikowicz. A bed hall followed in 1894, designed by Heinrich Lötz, and the bell tower, which was built in 1954, comes from architect Karl Lebwohl. The three -part ringing was created in 1947 by the Graz bell founder Ernest Szabo.

The interior of the pilgrimage church, which is designed in a neo -Romanesque style and offers a light -flooded hall with an open roof structure, is particularly impressive. The high altar, which houses the Statue of Mercy Maria Fieberbründl, and the votive boards that document the history of pilgrimage attract numerous pilgrims from Middle Styria and the South Burgenland. In recent years, the care of the place of pilgrimage has been in the hands of Capuchin patrons.

After visiting the church, the senior contributed to the program with joy to sang a Marienlied, and Hermi Sallegger presented a prepared text from the praise of God, supported by Pastor Peter Weberhofer. During their stay in Maria Fieberbründl, they could enjoy the quiet atmosphere before going back to St. Johann.

After the hike, the group returned to the Steinmann inn in Stubenberg, where the landlady and her team spoiled her with a delicious lunch. This togetherness ended the day properly and ensured that the participants went home with many beautiful memories.

The combination of spirituality and nature that offered the hike to Maria Feieberbründl shows once again how important such events are for the community spirit and the physical health of the senior: inside.
