Diverse art worlds: 100 years of the Graz Artist Association in the Mis Museum!
An exciting exhibition entitled "100 Years of the Graz Künstlerbund" recently opened its doors in the Museum Gleisdorf and will be shown until June 28th. The vernissage of the exhibition, which was curated by Harald Mauerlechner, the chairman of the artist association, and Monika Lafer, offered visitors a fascinating insight into the traditional history and the stylistic variety of this community. Over the years, the artist association has established itself as a platform for contemporary art and applied design, which is moving at the interface of art and science, as [meindezirk.at] (https://www.meinbezirk.at/weiz/c-leiten/ Anliche-in-jahrenbund-kuenstlerbund-graz_a7370092)
The exhibition not only illuminates the history of the artist association, but also shows current works by its members. Christine Kipper, a photographer and Soroptimist, as well as Livia Weidl, who combines art and science as a scientist, are just a few of the talents that are on display. Weidl presents drawings as well as digital and analog photographs, while Mauerlechner as a mixed media artist with adhesive comes as a creative starting material.
variety and creativity
Another highlight of the exhibition is the re-branding of the Künstlerbund brand, which was designed by Larissa Holweg, an expert in product and graphic design. In addition, there are impressive contributions from artists of object arts, including Valentina Eberhardt, who is known for her pen and works as an art historian and author. Monika Lafer, Carina Edler and Monika Wetz are also part of this exciting performance.
Contemporary influences can also be felt clearly: Artists like Peter Petrovic and Roland Scherlin express surrealistic approaches in their work, while Gerhard Putz enriches the contemporary art scene with paintings that immerse themselves in the popular culture. The interplay of these different styles and approaches impressively shows how complex the Graz artist's association has become over the past 100 years.
historical roots
It is interesting that the roots of the artist association go back to the establishment of a first art association in 1925. This tradition was repeatedly reinterpreted and adapted. The 2013 annual exhibition with the title "Im Bann" illustrates the development of the artist Association, as works, inspired by Alfred Kubin's "The other side", in which Halle for Art and Media were presented. Artists like Edeltraude Arleitner, Michael Birnstingl and many others contributed to this extraordinary event, such as [info-graz.at] (https://www.info-graz.at/partyfotos-eventfotos-bilder-fotos/galleries/16546_jahres exhibition-kuenstlerbund-graz-Halle-Halle-Fuer-Kunst-and-Medien-13-12-2013) documentedThe development of contemporary art itself reflects cultural, political and social changes and shows that art is always a mirror of its time. An overview of various movement systems, from abstract expressionism to street art, makes it clear how versatile and dynamic the art scene is. Artsper emphasizes that these art movements combine innovation with tradition and convey a deep understanding of the development of art history.
The current exhibition is therefore not only a festival of art, but also a review and outlook at the same time: on its roots, its influence and its future. A visit to the me Museum in Gleisdorf is definitely worth it!
