Rally Weiz 2025: Historical heroes and exciting races await!

Weiz, Österreich - Eastern Styria becomes the center for lovers of historical rally vehicles from July 14th to 16, 2025. The rallye Weiz this year is in the context of the FIA European Historic Rally this year Championship (Ehrc) and attracts both participants and many curious viewers. In the middle of the picturesque hill country in the region, historical racing cars and their drivers meet to demonstrate their skills on the demanding routes.

The rally in Weiz is the fifth of a total of ten season runs at Ehrc. The previous events in 2025, including the Rally Costa Brava and the Vltava Rally in the Czech Republic, have already caused a lot of excitement, and the upcoming runs also promise exciting highlights. After the Rally Weiz, Lahti Historic Rally in Finland and the Historic Rally of Asturias in Spain are on the program. Points are awarded to the top six results from the ten events, which intensifies the competition.

A look at the categories and participants

Ehrc is divided into four different categories that enable drivers to measure themselves against like -minded people in their vehicle class:

  • Category 1: Vehicles up to the year 1969
  • Category 2: Vehicles construction year 1970 to 1975
  • Category 3: Vehicles Building Year 1976 to 1981
  • Category 4: Vehicles construction year 1982 to 1990

In Category 1, only Oldrich Kovarik sen is. from the Czech Republic with a Skoda favorite 136L at the start. The pilot currently has 63 points on the account - a big gap to the leading Antonio Parisi from Italy, which leaves the rally Weiz. It is more exciting in category 2, where Bertrand Metivier (France, Ford Escort RS 1600) and Maciej Lubiak (Poland, Porsche 911 RS) fight for the title. They too are there in Weiz.

Category 3 has only two participants with Siegfried Mayr (Germany, Volvo 240) and Karl Wagner (Austria, Porsche 911). Wagner, a five -man European champion, hopes for important points in the Austrian TEC7 HRM. Twelve teams have registered in category 4, including two Austrians, Georg Reitperger (Ford Sierra Cosworth) and Richard Ronay (Lada VfTS). The waiver of Jari-Matti Latvala (Finland) is particularly noteworthy, which enables other drivers to make floor.

The newly introduced category P2 ensures a lot of tension, in which vehicles compete from 1992. Participants include “Zippo” (Italy, Peugeot 306 Maxi) and Kris Rosenberger (Subaru Impreza 555). These vehicles start behind the main field of Ehrc and are not taken into account in the overall ranking.
