Serious accident on the B70: Two young people seriously injured!

In the night of Saturday, May 31, 2025, the Red Cross Voitsberg-Köflach was called for a serious traffic accident on the B70 between Köflach and Edel scrap. At around 0.45 a.m. a car came off the street, overturned and stayed on the roof. According to MeinDzirk were five rescue vehicles and an emergency helicopter to supply the injured people.

The 18-year-old driver of the vehicle suffered serious head injuries and was put into an artificial deep sleep, while his 16-year-old passenger was also seriously injured to the hospital. The rapid alarm of the emergency services was carried out by the automatic Ecall system, which started the rescue chain. When saving the two young people, the emergency services had to work closely together to free the trapped people.

A first responder of the Red Cross was only a few minutes after the alarm at the scene of the accident and found the trapped people. The cooperation with the fire brigade worked perfectly according to the emergency services manager Manfred Pölzl. The 18-year-old was flown to the Graz University Hospital with the Christophorus 17 emergency helicopter, while his passenger was also transported to Graz with an emergency doctor's accompaniment.
In addition to this serious accident, the Red Cross was alerted in parallel to a medical emergency in Kainach. In Stallhofen, an ambulance was used as a brand outpatient clinic in a fire in a farm building, but no people or animals were harmed.
