Students in Paldau invent airfone: communication without technology!
In the small, charming town of Paldau, communication will be designed in a very special way in the future. In the course of the Building-up Challenge 2025 The WKO made two impressive airfone from concrete. These innovative means of communication came out without the common modern technologies such as the Internet or telephone cable and thus offer a fascinating view of the world of ancient communication methods.
From March to May 2025, the students worked on this extraordinary project under the guidance of workers Robert Lichtenegger and Irmgard Maric-Kaufmann as well as master builder Patrick Zenz. The result is two parabolic levels with a total weight of around 160 kg, which are now on the school premises and enable you to be heard with a clear sound by speaking in the first mirror in the second. Director Vanessa Lafer and Mayor Karl Konrad have already tested the functionality of the airfone and were very enthusiastic about the results.
support and networking
This exciting project is not only an individual game, but was designed as a networked school project. It integrates mathematics, physics as well as technology and design, and really many partners offered their support. These include the building academy, the WKO and the municipality of Paldau, all of which have contributed to the implementation. A video documentation about the planning and development of the art object was also created, which certainly documents the creative approaches of the students.
In addition to the gratifying news from Paldau, there are many other interesting reports from the region. On June 28, a Choir Festival in the Styrian Vulkanland in ILZ, which gathered more than 25 choirs and singing circles. Over 400 active singers are expected, and the musical highlight is opened by a singing move -in of 80 children from ILZ.
culture and community
On June 21, with the Midsummer Night Air of the Straden market music chapel, another event is coming up, in which traditional brass music and modern arrangements will be heard under the motto "Sound of Austria". Guest is Ewald Pfleger from the well -known band Opus, whose appearance will round off the musical experience.
These cultural highlights show that the Southeast Styria region is living communities with a wide range of events and projects. The region also remains exciting in terms of education. The UNESCO World Education report 2023 will be presented on November 23, 2023 and is the focus of technology in the education system. Important questions about the integration of educational technologies are dealt with, which are also important for schools such as the middle school in Paldau.
For everyone who wants to learn more, this development in the education sector is a sign that not only traditional values, but also technical progress can go hand in hand. Paldau proves that new ways in communication can be revealed, as it were, as it were, the many educational opportunities that our children offer a bliling and future -oriented upbringing. These initiatives and projects let us look at the coming months!
