Exciting exhibition: children discover their rights playfully!
Gnas, Österreich - in the Jufa-Hotel Vulkanland in Gnas, the exhibition "Lived Children's Rights" can be seen until June 29. This interactive show, which is created in cooperation with the children's office, the lobby for people up to 14 years and the Chamber of Labor in Styria, offers young visitors the opportunity to get to know their rights in a playful way. At the opening, all three first classes of the Gnas middle school were present, and the students had the opportunity to explore the exhibition with the help of an exciting puzzle rally. Around 60 children take advantage of this opportunity to learn actively and independently.
The positive response from the students speaks volumes: Many of them were extremely enthusiastic about group work and loosening the riddle. Project manager Gabriele Schröfelbauer raised how important it is that children are informed about their rights. This is supported by best practice examples from Styria, which have been selected for the Traudi! Children's Rights Prize 2024.
interactive experiences for all
The hiking exhibition offers a variety of interactive elements. Visitors can immerse yourself in the topics even deeper through QR codes. In addition, a free puzzle magazine is available for download, which was specially designed for children and school classes to promote participation in the puzzle rally.
Similar initiatives can also be found elsewhere, such as in the Junge Museum Frankfurt, which offers an interactive exhibition on children's rights for different age groups. This includes seven stations with practical tasks that deal with topics such as equality, freedom of expression, education and protection of privacy. Here school classes are equipped with a passport to make the tour exciting. In the end, the children have the opportunity to choose and discuss a child right as part of a children's parliament.
The Federal Ministry of Family Affairs has also initiated a mobile children's rights exhibition that consists of ten thematic modules and can be borrowed free of charge by schools, daycare centers and municipalities. Among other things, the modules address protection against violence, the right to education and the right to leisure and play. In this way, an awareness of child rights is also raised in other regions, which is of great importance for social development.
Overall, it can be seen that the promotion of children's rights is not only fun, but also happens in a variety of ways. Whether through interactive exhibitions, exciting puzzle rounds or discussion platforms - the right to education and information has become the central message of the current projects. The children are the future and it is up to us to educate them about their rights and to strengthen them.
