Stars of the future: 72 apprentices and 28 masters for Murtal!
On June 3, 2025, the important event "Stars of Styria" took place in the Murtal Chamber of Commerce, which once again awarded numerous talented apprentices and champions from the Murau and Murtal districts. A total of 72 apprentices and 28 new masters were honored for their excellent performance. This award is not only a personal success for the honored, but also for their training companies that recognize the potential of their apprentices at an early stage. The excellent apprentices emphasized that they found professions that offer them a promising future. The visible sign for the honored and their instructors is a star that stands for excellent performance in the respective training
The Styria Chamber of Commerce has set itself the task of appreciating the qualification of specialists who make a significant contribution to the economic success of companies. Almost 15,000 stars have been awarded at around 200 events since 2007. This year, Tobias Leitner and Elisabeth Poller from Alko Production Austria GmbH as well as Manuel Führer and Nico Lercher from Alpe Zimmerei and Tischlerei GmbH were awarded. The ATM Recyclingystems GmbH and the construction company Hartleb GmbH & Co KG were also among the companies that were able to present talented graduates.
honor for outstanding services
The honors as part of "Stars of Styria" take place over the year in various Styrian regions. In addition to the excellent apprentices, graduates were also recognized by master and qualification tests. The prerequisite for participation is that the teaching graduates passed their exams with distinction. However, training companies that are not members of the Chamber of Commerce cannot automatically invite teaching graduates. This applies, for example, pharmacies and doctors. The invitation group only includes member companies of the Styrian WKO, which underlines the exclusivity of the award.
In the fall of the increasing shortage of skilled workers, the Federal Government adopted a new skilled worker strategy in autumn 2022, as can be read on the website of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. The aim of this strategy is to increase the acquisition of women, older people and refugees. The potential that is available in Germany is increasingly used to close the gaps in the specialist area. The mediation and integration of migrants: inside and refugees into the labor market is essential. Companies such as the network, which counts over 3,900 members, actively support the training and employment of refugees. These initiatives are not only necessary, but also economically sensible, because it is expected that specialists from these groups can make a significant contribution to closing the skilled workers.
As part of the new skilled worker strategy, the importance of diversity in the workforce is also emphasized. This affects not only gender and age, but also origin and disability. Companies that promote this variety in their teams increase their chances of economic success. However, the challenge is to create the right framework so that women, older people and people with a migration background get the opportunities they earn.
The "Stars of Styria" event is therefore not just a celebration of individual services, but an important signal for the entire economy: The promotion and appreciation of well-trained specialists is crucial for a future-proof, prosperous world of work in Styria and beyond.
