Anniversary in Katsch-Frojach: 105 years of brass music and community celebrated!
Murau, Österreich - Last weekend a very special anniversary was celebrated in Katsch-Frojach: The Musikverein Katsch-Frojach celebrates its 105th anniversary. The venerable existence was celebrated with an extensive event program. Among the many highlights, the march music rating and the entertainment program on Saturday stood out, followed by a festive service and an act of honor on Sunday.
The roots of the music association go back to 1918 when the founding father Albin Metnitzer laid the foundation stone in Katsch. Just a year later, in 1919, another music club was also launched in Althofen. This impressively shows the long tradition and the commitment of brass music in the region.
a festival for the community
A central point of the anniversary celebrations was the festival service in the marquee in the Sumi - Arena, which was led by Auxiliary Bishop Johannes Freitag. Together with pastoral space manager Ciprian Sascau and the market music band Irdning, not only the musical part was recognized on this day, but also emphasized the importance of camaraderie in the music band. In his speech, Friday expressed the importance of coexistence in society and emphasized the role of music as a connecting element.
The guests of honor included LAbg. Max Lercher, Mayor Gottfried Sperl and BH Peter Plöbst. The district association was represented by cashier August Seidl. Special thanks also went to the Auxiliary Bishop, on the part of the music association and the community there were symbolic gifts to express the appreciation.

The celebrations were accompanied by brass music and a good mood and offered space for social encounters and exchange.
The music club in the brass music landscape
This celebration is not only a sign of connection within the music association, but also reflects the importance of brass music in Austria. The Austrian brass music association (ÖBV) plays a central role in the support and promotion of the brass music system in the country. With over 2,180 member chapels and a special focus on young talents, the ÖBV contributes to the preservation and further development of traditional customs and brass music culture. The youth organization of the ÖBV, the Austrian brass music youth (ÖBJ), also supports more than 80,000 young musicians in Austria, South Tyrol and Liechtenstein and promotes their active music and further education.
This is how the tradition of brass music remains alive and is an integral part of Austrian culture. It remains to be hoped that numerous anniversaries will continue to be celebrated in the future that continue the strength and joy of brass music.
Overall, the Musikverein Katsch - Frojach was able to appreciate its own history on the occasion of this anniversary and give an outlook on a continued blooming music culture that holds and inspires.
