Summer academy in the Pöllau valley: creativity in the heart of nature!

In the Pöllauer Tal Nature Park, there will soon be a creative highlight! From June 19 to September 28, 2025, the summer academy of my district takes place. The aim of this event is to promote creativity and open up new artistic scope for the participants.

The program is varied and ranges from workshops for beginners: inside to advanced and professional artists: inside. The focus has been on the visual arts since 2006. Colorful topics await the participants: Inside: painting, wood, metal, stone and textile processing as well as music, theater and literature are taught in small groups. Top -class artists: inside like Adrian Schvarzstein, Aglaia Szyszkowitz and Angelika Fink will pass on their valuable tips and techniques for different art styles.

A special highlight of the summer academy is the children's art camp, which takes place from July 7th to 17th for 6 to 13 year olds. Here the little creative people can develop their kitchen skills under the motto "Experiment, play, discover".

In addition to the summer academy, the accompanying series of events "summer fresh art" is offered. Free admission to film screenings, musical performances and outdoor readings promises enjoyment and variety for the whole family. Organizer Michaela Zingerle brings female perspectives and ecological approaches to the creative dialogue.

The summer academy is held at the renowned Pöllau Castle and other locations in the nature park, as can be read on Naturpark Pöllauertal. This idyllic backdrop not only offers an inspiring setting, but also promotes the exchange between artists: inside. Participants: Inside, you have the opportunity to take your own works, be it pictures, illustrations or sculptures, at the end of the workshops.

For all those interested in art, this is an excellent opportunity to capture the local beauties in various techniques. The nature park also offers places for art picnic or landscape painting that continue to invite you to discover the surroundings in a new way.

The festival was even recognized as a green meeting and bears the Austrian environmental label. This shows that the focus here is not only art, but also an awareness of ecology and sustainability. The Styrian Summer Art association, which organizes the summer academy, is committed to making contemporary forms of expression visible and making art accessible to lay people and professionals alike.

While the creative minds immerse themselves in the world of art, the topic of flood protection is not unnoticed. A comprehensive flood protection project is planned in Rohrbach after the heavy rain caused considerable damage on June 8, 2024. Here the municipality sees urgent need for action, as has already been determined.
