Safe paths for Graz: 1.375 million euros for walking 2025!

An important step for pedestrian friendliness in Graz was decided in today's council meeting. The “Foot traffic 2025” package of measures was adopted unanimously, which is equipped with an impressive total budget of 1.375 million euros for the years 2025 and 2026. These investments aim to make the coincidence in Graz safer, more comfortable and barrier -free, such as [Graz.at] (https://www.graz.at/cms/bagrag/10447610/gemeinderats meeting_vom_juni.html) reports.

The projects are based on the "master plan", the knowledge of which is incorporated into the planning from inspections, citizens: internal inquiries and ways to school. An important aspect is that the measures are closely linked to the needs of the Grazers so that everyone can be safely and easily on foot.

The specific measures

The implemented projects include:

  • Establishment of a protection path in Hafnerstrasse: € 50,000
  • redesign of the school environment in Muchargasse: € 40,000
  • sidewalk planning in Harter Strasse: € 40,000
  • structural improvements in Kreuzgasse, Morellenfeldgasse and Pirchäckerstraße (tactile control systems, sidewalk edges, breakdown): 520,000 €

These measures are part of a broader initiative to promote the too-footing and are related to the 1st Austrian foot traffic summit, which will take place in 2025. As ÖSTRUNZUMZUNGUS.AT, this summit will offer a platform for exchange about walking as a mobility form.

a summit for foot traffic

The Austrian foot traffic summit is designed as an annual forum that brings decision -makers from various areas, planners: interior and interest representative: inside. The aim is to increase the attractiveness and security of foot traffic in Austria and to use synergies between leisure and everyday traffic. The focus is also on the “Master Plan 2030”.

lectures and excursions on projects already implemented in Graz and the surrounding area offer participants the opportunity to gain practical insights into successful foot traffic strategies. With such events, the foundation stone is laid for a future -oriented mobility concept that not only promotes pedestrian traffic, but also improves the quality of life in the cities.

The implementation of these initiatives is a step in the right direction and shows that in Graz a good hand is being set for sustainable urban development. In this way, citizens: inside and visitors can be strolled safely and conveniently through the Graz streets, as is also recommended.
