Big festival in Friesach-Wörth: New fire engine for use!

Graz, Österreich - Last Sunday, June 5, 2025, the new vehicle of the volunteer fire brigade (FF) Friesach-Wörth was inaugurated with a solemn service in the presence of numerous guests of honor. The ceremony, led by Vicar André-Jacques Kiadi NKAMBU and Deacon Franz Kink, put the importance of the new HLF 3 tunnel 2500 for the local fire brigade community. Among the guests were also Oberbrandrat Gernot Rieger and Abi Andreas Reiter, who highlighted the technical advantages of the new emergency vehicle.

The new Volvo FMX with a Magirus-Lohr structure, the acquisition costs of which amount to around 550,000 euros, was financed with the support of the state of Styria as well as the municipalities of Gratkorn and Peggau and own funds. Mayor Michael Feldgrill emphasized the noticeable improvement of the fire brigade's punch through this new acquisition. The HLF 3 is specially designed for tunnel inserts, which is of great importance in the region. In order to ensure the operational readiness of the vehicle, the members of the fire brigade have been intensively trained.

technical innovation in use

One of the highlights of the event was the demonstration of the Luftrobot Luft 60, which was demonstrated by numerous visitors with its impressive performance. This remote -controlled device is optimized for use in difficult layers and can come up with a water jet of 2,400 liters per minute and the option of using foam. The air 60 is produced by Luf GmbH from Austria and is used to support fire brigade operations. It is particularly striking that the Baur Hermes Fulfilment (BHF), together with the firefighters in Altenkunstadt and Burgkunstadt, ensures the use of the air.

The robot not only brings fresh air into fire areas, but also removes smoke through specialized exhaust air systems. The device is equipped with a strong engine and a caterpillar chassis, which enables precisely maneuvers. BHF managing director Kamil Christoph Kasprowicz mentioned how important the support of the local fire brigades is and that the acquisition costs of the air 60 are at least 250,000 euros.

technical data and equipment

The operating robots, such as the Alpha Wolf R1 by Alpha Robotics, show that the future of fire fighting is strongly shaped by innovative technologies. With a system that combines drone control with unmanned land vehicles, a new era is heralded in fire fighting. These developments show how important it is that fire brigades use the latest techniques in order to be able to react effectively to different application scenarios.

  • Operating robot Alpha Wolf R1: 18 kW performance
  • top speed: 30 km/h
  • water cannon with 2,000 l/min at 10 bar

The FRIESACH-Wörth fire brigade took the opportunity to present itself with neighboring weirs at a performance show. A big thank you goes to HBI Christoph Pirstinger and the entire team for organizing this successful day, where numerous visitors were able to find out about vehicles, technology and the work of the fire brigade.
