AMS Business Tour 2025: Record visits strengthen Styria labor market!

The AMS Business Tour 2025 in Styria was a complete success and took place between April 28 and May 30th. Over 1,900 companies were visited with the clear goal of strengthening the regional labor markets. Through personal contact and comprehensive consultations, the exchange between the companies and the AMS was intensified. "We carried out almost 2000 visits to the company and around 300 telephone consultations," says Karl-Heinz Snobe, one of the operating consultants of AMS Styria, which highlights the positive feedback from the companies. "This shows that we are on the right track with our approach," continued Snobe.

The second place in Styria is particularly gratifying in the nationwide comparison of the company visits, only behind Vienna. Almost every fifth contact came from the green mark. The focus was on tailor-made offers such as integration allowances and apprenticeships for over 18 year olds. The aim was not only to support companies, but also to strengthen the labor market by qualified specialists. Training close to work is at the center of the efforts to secure future acquisition of skilled workers.

secure and promote specialists

As the current economic study of the Vienna Institute for International Economic Comparative (WiiW) shows, Austria's growth could be seriously at risk from an impending shortage of labor. Between 2022 and 2027, around 540,000 people from the BabyBoomer generation retire, and it will hardly be possible to fill these gaps through younger vintages. All the more important is the initiative of the AMS, which contributes to the increase in the profit participation of women, migrants: inside and older people.

The AMS not only offers integration aids, but also qualification funding to raise existing potential. In addition, impulse advice supports companies in increasing their attractiveness as an employer. "We remain available for our domestic companies even after the tour," adds Snobe, clarifying the commitment of the AMS to permanently improve the labor market.

A look into the future

With a continuing competition for specialists, the export industry, the centerpiece of the Austrian economy, will also face challenges. This industry generates around a third of the economic output and is dependent on well -qualified employees. In order to enable GDP growth of 1.5%, productivity must be significantly increased. Therefore, innovation and digitization in companies are important future topics in order to be able to meet the challenges of the labor market.

The AMS Business Tour not only has a short -term effect, but also provides a foundation for future developments in the Styrian and Austrian labor market. The region is on the right path to strengthen both employees: inside and employers and thus effectively meet the challenges.
