In the electrical and electronics industry (EEI is still being negotiated hard around wages and salaries. After almost eleven weeks of intensive discussions, the social partners have now agreed on an agreement that affects around 60,000 employees. In the late Friday evening, a final round was achieved in the fifth round of the collective agreement, which a retroactive increase in the actual wages and salaries by 2.75 percent from May 1st 2025, reports, the Kleine Zeitung .

The negotiations were not exactly a sugar. Despite the difficulties, it is possible to find a fair solution that benefits the low and medium -sized income groups in particular. With regard to a stable balance of inflation, you can also be confident. Part of the employees benefited from a permanent increase in their salaries. Apprentices can look forward to a salary increase of 3 percent, while the minimum wages, basic salaries and apprenticeship income are also increasing by 3 percent.

Details of the agreement

A central point of the agreement is the possibility of a "recession option". This applies to companies that are in economic difficulties. If a company gets into a negative eBit situation or makes more than 2 percent minus in the last financial year, the current increase in leisure or one-off payment can be converted. This shows that even in difficult times you respond to the needs of companies.

Another pleasant aspect is the increase in mileage to 50 cents for the first 15,000 kilometers, which is particularly important for field staff. The allowances for the second and third layer are also increased by 3 percent.

The electrical and electronics industry plays an important role in the Austrian economy. In 2023, she contributed 4.4 percent to the total production value of the country and secured around 160,100 jobs, which is 3.2 percent of total employment. The directly generated gross value added was 9.15 billion euros. The industry, which is represented by the specialist association of the electrical and electronics industry (Feei), currently employs 74,291 people and comprises around 300 companies with a production value of 24.61 billion euros, such as the GPA reported.

chairman Wolfgang Hesoun underlines the importance of this agreement for the industry and the associated companies. It not only provides employees, but also to employers, and remains important in terms of economic stability.
