Graz Airport Run: Collected 20,000 euros for children with cancer!

Flughafen Graz Thalerhof, Graz, Österreich - The Graz Thalerhof Airport recently was the scene of the fourth Airport Run, which reached the maximum limit with 800 participants this year. The event, which had the purpose of a benefit run, was able to collect an impressive 20,000 euros for the Sterntalerhof, a hospice for children and families. Achim Wippel from Hikimus was the organizer who perfectly organized the event and provided the best conditions. The runners went on the 5.8 kilometer route, while the weather offered ideal conditions.

The performance of the fastest participants was particularly impressive. Ute Pirchan from LTV Köflach won the women with a time of 22:31 minutes. Just behind it followed Laura Nagl with 24:20 minutes and Anja Nischelwitzer with 27:47 minutes. The men also had impressive times: Georg Schrank from Runninggraz triumphed with 18:57 minutes, followed by Andreas Potocar with 19:44 minutes and Wilfried Thanner, who ran third with 20:18 minutes.

As in the previous years, the event relied on a professional time in Race. It was particularly practical that the chip was integrated into the start number without additional fees for the chip rental. A labest station at the finish line ensured the necessary meals of the participants. In addition, there was an overall ranking for men and women as well as a team ranking in different categories to also promote the community spirit.

The event included various honors. The fastest participant of each team was awarded and all participants had the chance to win a special prize in a raffle. The award ceremony including the raffle took place at 8:15 p.m., which brought additional tension into the atmosphere. And so that parking on site was not a problem, a discounted tariff of 5 euros was offered in the parking lots P3, P4, and P5.

The Airport Run not only fit the sporting events, but is also part of a larger initiative. According to the government program 2020-2024, the development of a plan is actively working in Austria in order to offer better support for international sports events.
