Bee project in Gratkorn: Green job engine for the region!

Gratkorn, Österreich - in Gratkorn something happens - in the best sense for the environment! Steiner Bau GesmbH has launched an innovative ecological bee project that should not only promote biodiversity, but also contributes to environmental protection. Several beehives were set up on the company area, in cooperation with the experienced beekeeper Konrad Mayer, who has already been awarded several gold medals for his honey. According to [meinzirk.at] (https://www.meinbezirk.at/graz-wandung/c-lokales/nachhaltigkeit-summt- der-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem-dem- der B are aimed at strengthening the biodiversity in the region and at the same time to understand the ecological upgrading of the environment as an opportunity.

The project was created as part of the new building of the Gratkorn power plant, where over 16,000 shrubs and trees were replanted. The Initiative to promote biodiversity is a central part of a long -term sustainability strategy of the company. Before installing the beehives, there were no bee -friendly offers in the immediate vicinity, but with the cooperation between beekeeper Mayer, expert care is now ensured for the bee colonies. This also results in the production of regional honey directly from the company area.

shattering developments for bee population

hoodybee.com reports, bee colonies are increasingly disappearing from farms, especially when changing generation. This has a big impact, because the honey bee is the third largest farm animal in Europe and plays a crucial role in the pollination of plants, especially in fruit and vegetable cultivation. Today, consumers have increasing demands on respectful and species -appropriate animal husbandry, which is why it is important for bee owners to keep their bee colonies under natural conditions.

Another point is the deterioration in living conditions for bees in Central Europe. According to bienen.ch, up to 1000 bee species in this region are known, the majority of flowering plants are dependent on the pollination performance. Bees take on around 80 percent of the total pollination work, which underlines their importance for the ecosystem. Nevertheless, experts observe a decrease in wild bee populations and fewer and fewer honey bee colonies, which is due to poor food, intensive agriculture and unkempt gardens.
