Bathing fun in Styria: where you can swim for free!

Graz, Österreich - With the beginning of the bathing season, the anticipation of sunny days on the water in Styria is great. The forecasts are promising and invite you to explore the numerous lakes and outdoor pools. There are plenty of opportunities in Styria to enjoy a refreshing break, and many of them are even accessible free of charge. For example, over 40 outdoor pools are ready, during the entry for adults between 3.5 and 10.50 euros varied.

A real highlight in the region is the Soboth reservoir, where bathing is possible without entry costs. Only the parking fees have to be paid: these are free of charge for the first hour, after which 2 euros for 1-3 hours and 5 euros for a whole day. The Erlaufsee also attracts with free swimming, whereby a daily ticket for the parking spaces costs 12 euros.

Family -friendly leisure activities

The recreation lake Krieglach stands out due to its extensive leisure activities. Families can swim on over 53,000 square meters of water, while a water playground, outdoor fitness equipment and a Ninja Warrior facility are waiting for younger visitors. Swimming is also free of charge here, but there are parking fees of 1 euro per hour or 5 euros for the whole day.

The packer reservoir in Edelschrott is also worth a visit. With a spacious water area of ​​60 hectares, it not only offers free swimming, but also attractive sports and refreshments. For nature lovers, the Hirzmann reservoir is ideal, which has a toll-free bridge and a natural meadow for those seeking relaxation. If you like the altitude, you will find cool water at 1,400 meters at the Hebalmsee, a popular destination, also for dog owners.

A look at the prices

The Styria Chamber of Labor has compared the prices of 43 outdoor pools and 15 swimming lakes. It turned out that the most expensive bathing pleasure in Graz can be found, where the day tickets for adults can rise to 10.50 euros. In comparison, day tickets are available in facilities such as the Kindberg outdoor pool from 3 euros. The prices for children are between 1.50 euros for the Voitsberg adventure pool and 8 euros for Copacabana.

With the increasing popularity of bathing, admission prices have also increased in recent years. Between July 2023 and 2024, prices for bathing lakes increased by 10.92 percent, 6.3 percent in outdoor pools. The costs for food and drink on site have also increased, which could influence the plans for a successful bathing day.

In Styria, bathing and swimming is not only a way to cool off, but also an eventful leisure activity for the whole family.
