Musikverein St. Jakob i. W. celebrates for 140 years with a big festival!

St. Jakob im Walde, Österreich - The 137th district musician festival, which was celebrated in the forest on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the St. Jakob Music Association, brought together the people in the region. A truly festive spectacle took place in the Jogllandhalle on the first weekend in June, which both kept the music enthusiasts and traditions alive. Right from the start, 15 music clubs from Burgenland, Lower Austria and Hungary as well as five music districts from Styria performed on Friday evening. The "Moritz & Co" sheet metal formation heated up the visitors at the festival dance, while on Saturday 18 chapels with more than 600 active musicians provided unique sounds.

a tribute to tradition

The ceremony on Saturday was accompanied by high -ranking representatives of the state of Styria and local politics, including LAbg. Christian Schandor and Mayor Johannes Payerhofer. The "Grandioso" of Dieter Herborg, which of Bez.kpm.-Stv. Michael Arzberger was conducted. The performance of a specially composed march was particularly moving in honor of the late Honorary Cape Master Friedrich Berger. The golden young musician achievement badge was awarded to four talented musicians: inside to honor their excellent performance.

The "Hymn to Friendship", impressively sung by Laura Arzberger, rounded off the ceremony, which culminated with Ludwig Carl Seydler's "Styrian State Hymn". Even after the guest concerts, the mood was further fueled by the "Innkreis Buam" and everyone present celebrated the cultural heritage of brass music.

The cultural importance of brass music

The importance of brass music for regional culture cannot be assessed highly enough. Around 400 music clubs in Styria, which includes a total of around 19,500 active musicians, shape cultural life. Traditions are indispensable, because they live through the active cooperation of clubs and associations that work for the preservation and promotion of domestic culture, such as Kultur.steiermark.at

As part of the celebrations, the many other events that are planned in the region were also pointed out. In June and July there are a number of classic music festivals and performances on the program that the community will continue to enrich with musical life. The next big highlight is the anniversary concert on November 22, 2025, which is the crowning glory of the festive year.

The Musikverein St. Jakob i. W., founded in 1885, has established itself as an important cultural institution over the years and can look back on numerous awards, such as the "Styrian Panther" and the "Robert Stolz Medal". May the brass music in the region continue to shine in full shine!
