St. Ulrich in Greith, Österreich - A true festival for those interested in art expects visitors to the Greith-Haus in St. Ulrich! On Friday, June 13th, the summer exhibition "Zum Dance" of the renowned artist Franz Grabmayr . The exhibition, which will be shown by August 17, 2023, is devoted to the fascinating dance pictures that Grabmayr has been created since the 1970s during rehearsals and performances at the Vienna State Opera.

Grabmayr's works of art are characterized by the ability to capture movement in an impressive form. The artist, born in Carinthia, captures the energy of dance in his watercolors, fabric work and oil paintings. The exhibition is guided by Günther Holler-Schuster , an experienced curator of the Universal Museum Joanneum.

A look at life and work

Franz Grabmayr (1927–2015) was not only an outstanding artist, but also a passionate teacher. After studying a building construction at the State Trade School in Villach from 1942 to 1947 and further training at the teacher training center in Vienna, he gave up his teacher career in 1962 to devote himself entirely to painting. His artistic work is strongly shaped by the nature and culture of his homeland Carinthia, in which he was firmly rooted.

He developed his picturesque talent at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied from 1955 to 1964. Grabmayr was always careful to present the movement of the human body in his works. The immediacy and the dynamic force that penetrates his work has secured a special place in Austria's art scene.
