On Saturday afternoon, in St. Peter in the Sulmtal, in the district of Deutschlandsberg, a dramatic incident occurred, which included several small explosions. The fire brigade was alerted to a full fire of an outbuild shortly after 3 p.m. When they arrived, the emergency services immediately recognized the danger, since high flames were already out of the building and three gas bottles were stored inside, which also fueled the situation. The extinguishing work was challenging. The fire brigade used three respiratory protection teams that searched for glut nests with thermal imaging cameras. The fire stove was finally localized and deleted with high pressure pipes. Because of the strong flames and the risk of gas bottles, the roof structure had to be secured with metal supports as a precaution in order to ensure the safety of the emergency services. “Fire from” was finally given shortly after 4 p.m., and a fire guard remained on site until 5:30 p.m. to rule out again.
