Cleaning the alpine pastures: Now help with the alpine plaster day!
Bruck-Mürzzuschlag, Österreich - On July 19, invited to the Alm plaster day again in Styria. Organized by the Chamber of Agriculture and the Styrian Almwirtschaftsverein, the campaign is all about maintaining the alpine pastures in order to obtain these valuable cultural goods. The alpine pastures are to be freed from disturbing ferns, perennials and trees to counteract a bush and roughening, such as
In the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district, three alpine pastures take part in the campaign: the worm goods and Ostereralm in Turnau and the Geicregg/Moschkogel-Alm in Mürzzuschlag. The meeting points are well chosen: For the Wurmgut Alm, we start at 8 a.m. at the Pretalhof of the Leitner family in Stübming, while the helpers for the Ostereralm meet for the same time at the municipal car park in Turnau. The Geregg/Moschkogel-Alm is looking forward to support at 8.30 a.m. on the Mürzzuschlag-West motorway exit at the all-round crossing. The alpine plaster day is also known as the "Almschwendtag" and has enjoyed a lot of participation in recent years: hundreds of volunteers have already grabbed to bring the alpine pasture in the team. All this is also invited this year. Each helper is guided by the alpine farmers, which is a great opportunity to get to know the craft and the traditions of alpine pasture up close. As a small thank you, a strengthening snack is provided for the helpers. In the entire Styria there are around 1,610 alpine pastures, on which an estimated 42,000 cattle, 900 horses and 6,000 sheep and goats graze in summer. These alpine pastures are more than just pasture areas. They fulfill important agricultural and tourist functions, such as Agrar.steiermark.at The regular management not only stabilizes the necessary areas, but also support animals and nature. For example, the loss of alpine pastures, which often leads to the forest, is effectively counteracted. Without care, around 1,000 hectares of alpine pastures overgrow alpine pastures in Styria annually. The need to maintain the alpine pastures is therefore undisputed. The commitment of the volunteers in care is all the more important. After all, climate change also becomes increasingly important due to climate change to ensure the water supply on the alpine pastures. In recent years, the Austrian program for the environment and agriculture (ÖPUL) has been able to implement various measures to promote alpine pasture and thus improve the conditions for alpine farmers and biodiversity in the alpine regions. Therefore, dear readers: inside, let's tackle it and make our alpine pastures fit for summer! The commitment to our highly valued cultural assets is not only an honorable task, but also an opportunity to experience the Styrian nature up close and to learn more about our traditions. volunteers welcome!
The commitment to the future
