Unemployment in Bruck/Mur: Dramatic climb ensures worries!

In the Bruck/Mur district, the worries are increasing: unemployment continues to increase and the framework conditions on the labor market are tense. According to current data, a total of 1,841 people in the Bruck/Mur contaminated district were registered as unemployed or in training measures at the AMS at the end of May 2025. This is an increase that illustrates the worrying trends in the Styrian labor market. MeinDärzirk reports that the number of unemployed in the region has increased by 8.3 percent previous year.

in May 2025, 295 people reported newly, which corresponds to a decline of 9.2 percent compared to the previous year, but did not defuse the concern. The proportion of men who are unemployed also grows faster than that of women. In total, the district recorded 479 people last year who left unemployment - that is 17.4 percent more than in the previous year. These developments are also reflected in the number of employed employees who fell to 23,373 people in April 2025, a decrease of 1.6 percent compared to the previous year.

difficult framework conditions

The unemployment rate in the Bruck/Mur container is currently 6.3 percent, an increase of 0.9 percent compared to 2024. Interestingly, the entire state of Styria has the same unemployment rate, which has also risen by 0.7 percent. The companies are currently acting cautiously, which is reflected in the significantly lower job access. The state development reports of a job seeker of 3.5 job seekers in April 2025, a worrying increase compared to the previous year.

The forecasts for 2025 show a muffled development on the labor market. While the service sector expects a slight increase of 0.7 percent or about 2,680 new employment relationships, the situation in the manufacturing area is anything but rosy. Here a decline of 0.7 percent is predicted by the employees. Economy Styria points out that the unemployment rate 2025 is expected to increase to 6.5 percent.

outlook for the coming months

The location in the Bruck/Mur contaminated district and in the entire Styria shows that there is an urgent need for action. The worrying figures, especially with regard to rising unemployment, leave hardly any reason for the all -clear. Employees and job seekers face an unsafe future, while the companies are looking for a solution to counteract the shortage of skilled workers.

In view of this situation, it remains to be seen how the Styrian labor market will develop in the coming months. It is to be hoped that targeted measures to promote employment and the training of job seekers will be taken to strengthen trust in the domestic economy.
