This year's Narcissus Festival took place on Thursday evening in the picturesque Ausseerland Salzkammergut. This important flower festival attracts up to 25,000 visitors year after year - a real crowd puller that also attracts international guests. The Narzissen Festival clear how much the local economy benefits from the high number of visitors. Over one and a half million euros flow through gastronomy, trade, tourism and regional producers.Rudi Grill, the chairman of the Narcissus Festival Association, and Maria Schoiswohl, managing director of the Kommhaus, emphasized the immense economic and tourist relevance of the festival. The high capacity utilization of hotels and guest houses in the area speaks for itself: the accommodations on this event weekend are extremely popular. Already over 3,000 volunteers from the region are involved in the organization and implementation, which noticeably reinforces the feeling of community and cohesion.
The new daffodil queen
Traditionally, the narcissus festival is opened with the choice of the narcissus queen. This year Magdalena Egger (24) from Bad Mitterndorf won the title and prevailed against her competitors Johanna Murauer from Altmünster and Celina Gschaider from Seekirchen. The freshly crowned queen was visibly moved and looks forward to her new task, in which she will represent the festival in the coming months. This solemn start marks the start of the multi -day festival, which has duration until Sunday, and has numerous highlights.
On Sunday it gets really colorful: Around one million flowers are put into artistic figures and presented in Altaussee. Previously, a spectacular boat body takes place at 2 p.m., in which the impressive flowering works of art are loaded on plates and barges. Here, too, the volunteers are actively involved. Another highlight is the choice of the most beautiful figures in which 25 teams take part - this ensures additional tension and shows the creative talent of the region. Under the motto 'blooming together', the Narcissus Festival has been becoming an attractive attraction for the entire population for years.
How important security is, the organizers confirmed with the use of around 50 police officers and 20 security forces to ensure that the process runs smoothly during the festival. HBI Michael Köberl from the Strasse volunteer fire brigade also emphasized the sense of community, which is more important than ever in the region.
"In good weather, we expect up to 25,000 visitors," said Maria Schoiswohl. This once again shows the attraction of the narcissus festival on tourists and locals alike. With a diverse supporting program that includes music, costume, shows and regional products, the festival not only benefits visitors, but also the local economy.
The daffodil festival is more than just a nice flower -proof - it is a festival that makes the entire region bloom.
