tradition and pleasure in ranking
The ranking is not only a sporting competition, but also an important part of the alpine culture. The origins go far back and are interwoven with traditions that go back to the Celtic age. Ranging is all about skill, technology and the ability to defeat the opponent through throwing techniques. However, pain grips are not allowed, which underlines the fairness idea of sport. These rules make ranking a captivating sport for young and old, which is very popular throughout the region.
The next events are already in the starting blocks. On Whit Monday, Alpine Cupranggeln in Terenten, South Tyrol, takes place, followed by an international price ranking and country ranking in Alpbach on June 15th. On June 22nd, the Schmittenrangeln will also be held in Zell am See.
The future of ranking in Austria is secured because the numerous clubs such as the Salzburg Rangglerverband are committed to the pulse of the times and ensure young people and training. This development is not only important for the athletes, but also for the entire region and its traditions. The coming season therefore promises anything but boring. If you want to experience the rankers live, you should fix the next dates in the calendar!
