Miriam Hanika: Departure into the independence with inner life!

The Austrian music scene is growing: Miriam Hanika, a talented oboist and pianist, is ready to present her own musical identity. Originally worked as an employed musician in an orchestra, Hanika quickly realized that this type of music does not correspond to her creative mind. "I didn't feel comfortable," she admits in an interview with Kulturnews .

Hanika, who learned her classic training from her mother, used her talent and passion for the music to compose self -written songs. Despite her endeavor to get an orchestra job, she realized that many of her colleagues were lost creativity. This led them to the foundation of the woodwind ensemble "Dandelion Quintet" in order to let their classic experience shine in a new light.

new album and independence

On June 6, 2025, Hanika released her new album "*Interior Life*". In this work she tries to find her own voice and not only stand in the shade of larger artists such as Konstantin Wecker and Mascha Kaléko. "I want to keep my own identity," she emphasizes. To achieve this, she founded her own label and bought back all previous sound carriers, which is a big step towards independence for her.

In addition, Hanika took the initiative to organize her booking herself, which shows that she tackles the bacon and puts her fate in her own hands. Her tour, which is to take place from June to December 2023, promises exciting appearances and a variety of musical encounters.

The challenges of the music industry

But what does it mean today to gain a foothold in the music industry? The musical landscape has changed radically through digitization and streaming services such as Spotify. Delamar describes that there is hardly a typical way to the music industry today. Artists like Hanika have to assert themselves in an area that is increasingly shaped by new technologies and business models.

The industry offers a variety of ways, be it musicians, sound and audio designers, sound engineers or booking agents. Many career changers use internships and networks to find the start. The training in this dynamic landscape is often neglected, but current programs such as those of the SAE Institute or the Pop Academy show that there are enough offers to train tomorrow's talents.

For Hanika, the way will not always be easy, but with its determination, creativity and a clear plan, it seems ready to fully compete with the adventure music industry.
