Andreas Heraf: New chapter opened as a trainer at BFC Dynamo!

Austrian football has an experienced exponent in his ranks with Andreas Heraf, who has already experienced a lot. Born in Vienna in 1967, the 57-year-old is known not only for his active time as a player, but also as a coach. His path began as a defensive midfielder at Rapid Vienna, where he laid the foundation stone in 1984 and performed in 1996 in the European Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain. Heraf can also look back on honor to represent his country at the 1998 World Cup in France and to have played 11 caps for Austria. His trip led him to SV Austria Salzburg in 1996, where he shone with 12 missions and 4 goals in the 1996/97 season.

After his active career, he turned to the coaching and shaped numerous talents in the youth area of the ÖFB. His protégés include players like David Alaba and Konrad Laimer who play in the A national team today. His international experiences in New Zealand and Brazil add even more weight to its portfolio. Heraf is currently without a club, but is already planning his next steps and recently commented on the sports director position at Austria Salzburg. In an interview, he said that he is convinced that Austria Salzburg can climb into the second division, which would be a great asset to Austrian football.

Next step: coach at the BFC Dynamo

Andreas Heraf announced a new course in his career on May 25, 2024: He will be a coach of the regional league team BFC Dynamo. The club had previously separated from Dirk Kunert and sees Heraf the ideal cast for the vacant coaching position. Previously, Heraf was under contract with the Austrian first division relegated SC Austria Lustenau, where he stepped in during the winter break, but could not prevent relegation. Now it is up to him to lead BFC Dynamo back to old strength after the club took fourth place in the Regionalliga Northeast last season.

With the required UEFA A license and its variety of experiences at home and abroad, including engagements in Germany at clubs such as Hannover 96 and Türkgücü Munich, Heraf brings a lot of know-how to the capital. The BFC Dynamo has set itself the goal of playing the championship again and relies on Heraf's extensive experience.

A look into the future

Heraf emphasized in one of his latest talks that the development of Red Bull Salzburg has been a challenge without a title in the past two years, but still sees positive perspectives. In particular, he emphasizes the importance of transfer proceeds and the associated difficulties that arise from the sale of players. Nevertheless, he remains optimistic that Austria Salzburg's path will also lead to a sporty successful future.

The coming months will show how Heraf plays in his new role at the BFC Dynamo and whether he succeeds in the big throw. Austrian football has a good knack with him, and the fans can be excited to see which course he sets for his new club.
