Vöcklabruck musicians shine at the international accordion festival!

In the past few days, Innsbruck has once again been the meeting point for music enthusiasts from all over the world. The 14. World Music Festival , organized by the German Harmonikan Association, attracted over 3,000 musicians and around 160 orchestras, ensembles and bands that shared their passion for music. From May 29 to June 1, 2025, the state capital of Tyrol was the center of accordion music.

Especially the music students from Vöcklabruck provided enthusiasm. The Chord orchestra "Musica Accordis" with "i fisakkordeonisti" from Garsten and the "accordion ensemble insieme" from Grieskirchen. Under the direction of Dagmar Malli, Roman Prüller and Edith Pauzenberger, they presented impressive pieces such as the "Big Apple Suite" and "Take the A Train", arranged by Wolfgang Russ. This performance fell into the "Adult Freestyle" category.

The hard work and the commitment of the music students were rewarded: the Vöcklabruck Orchestra won second place and was awarded "excellent" by the international jury. In the youth championship classes, Michael Gruber, student of Lukas Schmied, also showed great performances and made it to second place with the rating "very good" with his appearance.

The musical competition was not the only attraction of the festival. As part of the event, the “Harmonika Day” of the Harmona Association Austria, which offered additional highlights and emphasized the variety of harmonica art. Visitors were able to look forward to an exciting program that ranged from competitions in different categories to a "Tyrolean evening" on the opening evening of the festival.

The international participation was particularly outstanding. Musicians from countries such as Germany, Switzerland, England, Ireland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Estonia, Poland and even China were represented. A real festival of music and culture that inspired the audience and promoted the exchange between cultures.

It was an unforgettable experience for the visitors that culminated with the evening of the nations on May 31 and the announcement of the competition results on June 1st. Among other things, artists such as Vladimir Stupnikov and the Vangardion Featuring Matthias Matzke, who captivated the audience with their impressive appearances.

The World Music Festival is not only an important appointment for accordion lovers, but also offers families a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the music world. The anticipation for the next events of the harmonica association and the World Music Festival is already noticeable.
