Water battle in Bad Leonfelden: Petanque for a good cause!

Bad Leonfelden, Österreich - The first “Ladi” petanque memorial tournament took place in Bad Leonfelden on the Christ Hymel Field Day. Despite the adverse weather conditions - the rain started early in the morning - 24 teams of two from all over Upper Austria were not discouraged and competed for the tournament. This special event was reminiscent of Gerhard "Ladi" Ladendorfer, the co -founder of PSV Bad Leonfelden, who died in autumn 2024 at the age of 83 after serious illness. A symbolic sign of cohesion across all congregations was noticeable at this tournament, which not only promoted top sporting performance, but also the community spirit, as meinzimzirk.at reported.

The 48 players who stood on the square in their warm rain cladding and armed with umbrellas did their best. Four passes of 45 minutes each were completed, in which high -class players competed against each other with a lot of commitment. Even if the conditions were not ideal, many games were decided in extra time. The passion of the participants clearly prevailed the adverse weather conditions, which made the tournament an unforgettable experience, as well as [tips.at] (https://www.tips.at/nachrichten/urfahr-wanden/land-leute/686554-petanque gymnastics-in-bad-leonfelden-fuer-guten-purpose) set.

a successful event for a good cause

At the end of the tournament, the organizers proudly announced a sum of 1,500 euros. The entire net proceeds go to a single mother and her nine -year -old son who suffers from a rare, incurable muscle disease. A nice proof that sport can also make a deep social contribution.

The tournament winners were the two players "Bertl & Josef", Engelbert Mandl and Josef Wöss from Helfenberg. “Fab-Aurel”, consisting of Aurélien Marcadon and Fabien Maestre from Linz, took second place. "Jo & Franz", Roland Bruckmayr and Franz Pointner, also from Linz, fought third place. After the competition, all participants were able to fortify themselves with goulash soup, chili con carne, coffee and tea - a wonderful way to end the day together.

The event was realized by the active support of regional companies such as Raiffeisenbank Bad Leonfelden, the carpenter Kaar and the company in Nordfels, which once more shows how important local partnerships are to enable such events. For sports lovers, Petanque is a fascinating sport that also demonstrates many fans outside of Austria, such as at events in Berlin [petanque-berlin.de] (https://petanque-berlin.de/home/turniere-unde championships).
