Friedensplatz in Gramastetten: Become a sponsor of the olive tree!

Gramastetten, Österreich - At the Vedahof in Gramastetten not only grows vegetables, but also a very special project: a peace place is created here that depicts Europe. Initiator Josef Walchshofer has set itself the task of making peace visible and tangible. The large olive tree, which is the focus of the central symbol, stands for peace, durability and reconciliation.

The peace place is provided with a blue gravel bed that carries twelve yellow stars - a clear reference to the EU. Central elements also include a “path of peace pens” with names, quotations and messages from committed peace conveyors. Information boards per European country are also set up, the state flag, a message of peace and a quote or symbol. This warm invitation to the European countries to take over sponsorships for the olive trees should begin with the official planting.

invitation to sponsorship

The idea behind the sponsorship for an olive tree could not be more impressive. Such a sponsorship is sealed with a peace certificate and gives the citizens: inside in Austria the opportunity to actively contribute to peace spread. Gravated inscriptions and the entry in the peace book are also open to everyone. There are also numerous offers, such as peace gift boxes, art campaigns, workshops and lectures. So the Friedensplatz becomes a place of encounter, education and reflection.

But why the olive tree? In Greece it is considered the "gift of the gods" and is a holy symbol. The plant that has been since the 6th century BC Was domesticated, not only an important crop, but also part of the Mediterranean heritage. The olive tree grows in characteristic cultural landscapes and is often seen as a symbol of peace. After the deluge, Noah received an olive branch as a sign of reconciliation, a myth that underlines the cultural and spiritual meaning of the tree. Artists like Vincent van Gogh immortalized him in their works.

Friedensplatz opened in autumn

With the opening of the peace square in autumn, a platform for promoting peace and solidarity is created. An olive tree for every European country adorns the space, and this gives everyone the opportunity to actively participate by taking over a sponsorship.

The advantages of a sponsorship are diverse. In addition to the preservation of the typical cultural landscape in Greece, industrial management and soil speculation are avoided. A sponsorship supports ecological agriculture and promotes the changeover of conventional companies. The quality and sustainably produced olive oil, which emerges from the sponsorships, not only offers an enjoyable experience, but also a piece of transparent food production.

If you are interested, you can register for an olive tree sponsorship. The minimum term is three calendar years, and it can be extended for up to ten years as desired. The costs for such a sponsorship are also impressive, because you will not only receive a certificate, but also an annual bottle of organic olive oil directly from the sponsored tree.

So everyone becomes a peace penther who not only plants a tree, but also actively contributes to the promotion of peace in Europe. The Vedahof in Gramastetten uses a sign and invites everyone to become part of this unique project.
