Upper Austria's best young talent comes from Adlwang!

Adlwang, Österreich - Upper Austria has a new top force among the youngsters: Hemma Schallauer from Adlwang was named the best youth confectioner at the Juniorskills Upper Austria. On May 16, 2024, the joint state apprentice competition for bakers, confectioners and butchers took place in the Linz 10 vocational school, where Hemma and its colleagues demonstrated their skills. A total of 16 students and a student took part in this exciting competition, which the jurors praised as a large stage for talented apprentices.

In places second and three, Elisabeth Milacher from Zell am Pettenfirst and Jana Bauer from Pfarrkirchen im Mühlkreis. Hemma Schallauer is currently in her apprenticeship at MMST. Johanna Rührlinger works in Kremsmünster, where she is supported by experienced professionals on her way to the master of the dessert. Elisabeth and Jana meanwhile complete their apprenticeship with MSt. Stefan Mühlbacher in Ampflwang or MMSt. Gerhard Josef Bauer in parish churches in the Mühlkreis.

The participants had to cope with demanding tasks at the event, such as the preparation of two -story festive cakes, the forms of marzipan figures and the manufacture of delicious chocolates. Such challenges make it clear how high the demands in the confectioner are and that a lot of creativity is necessary to compete. State guild master Reinhard Honeder and WKOÖ Vice President Leo Jindrak were impressed by the performance and commitment of all participants.

These successes are not only due to the talent of the young confectioners, but also to the educational offers that are essential in the craft. Further training plays a central role, emphasizes the Institute for the Management Technology (ITB). It offers different programs, such as the "Business Wirts of the Crafts" course in order to convey the necessary skills to remain competitive. In German space it is even possible to study without a high school diploma, which opens the doors to many practitioners who want to rise in their craft.
