Markus Kaserer: Local hero and master coach after 20 years of football passion

Münzkirchen, Österreich - On June 2, 2025, a very special event was celebrated in the Schärding district: Markus Kaserer, coach of FC Münzkirchen, was named district winner of the Supercoach election 2025. This award organized by the Mein district and Sportland Upper Austria honors his remarkable commitment to the association for almost two decades.

Kaserer, 51 years old and by profession beer brewer at the Baumgartner brewery, started his coaching career at FC Münzkirchen in 2007. Since then he has looked after almost all age groups and has achieved significant successes. The U12 2010 won the championship title under his lead, and the U15 and the U17 can look back on runner -up titles from 2013 and 2016. In 2017 he took over the management of the women's team, where he contributed significantly to promote the fun of football.

a new way for the women's team

The women's team developed splendidly under Kaserer's instructions. In 2022, a syndicate with the women's teams of Münzkirchen and Taufkirchen were launched. This cooperation paid off: In the first year, women were able to win the championship title in the women's class Upper Austria South/West and thus celebrate the promotion to the Landesliga. "Football is not just about winning," emphasizes Kaserer, who clarifies that the team is a hobby team for many players.

Christian Lautner, the chairman of FC Münzkirchen, praised Kaserer's tireless efforts and the great importance of the community in football. "We are grateful for his almost 20 years of work and everything he has achieved for the club," continued Lautner. After this season, however, Kaserer will resign, which is a big loss for many in the club.

Current developments in club life

To support the youth, FC Münzkirchen recently organized a tent festival, in which a company, club and regular table evening is also planned. On June 6, 2026, everyone is invited to celebrate the hard beer tapping together with the mayor. Entry is free until 8:00 p.m. and each guest receives a free drink when reserving.

On the boulevard of football, there are also gratifying news from the U14 girls' team, who won first place at a tournament in Wolfsegg. Captain Jules Freilinger contributed significantly to success and scored important goals, including a decisive penalty hit in the final against Kleinmünchen.

In the middle of all of these exciting developments, women's football in Austria remains an important topic at a higher level. The strategy “Women in Football FF27” is intended to promote female football at all levels, from amateurs to the great leagues. By increasing the number of active players, trainers and the doubling of the media reach, one wants to optimize the visibility and integration of women in football. These comprehensive measures are part of a long-term plan that was launched on the 43rd ordinary DFB Bundestag to further strengthen women in various football structures.

FC Münzkirchen has repeatedly shown in times of change and the challenges that community and team spirit are of crucial importance in football. With the legacy of Markus Kaserer and a strong future perspective, the association will continue to take an important place in Austrian football.
