Maria Grünberger wins Premium Prize at the federal competition!

Schärding, Österreich - On June 11, 2025, there was a highlight for the Austrian music scene in the Schönbrunn Schlosstheater in Vienna: Maria Grünberger triumphed at the federal competition of "Prima La Musica" and secured first place. This competition is Austria's largest youth music competition for classical music and gathers talented musicians every year: inside from all over Austria, South Tyrol and Liechtenstein. This year the Music Corporation of Music celebrated its 30th anniversary, as the District Battal reported.

The federal competition, which started on May 28th and lasted until June 9, offered space for around 900 young talents that performed at renowned institutions such as the MDW (University of Music and Performing Art Vienna) and the MUK (music and art private university of the city of Vienna). Daily award ceremonies took place every day in the Haydnsaal of the MDW, which appreciated the commitment and passion of these young artists: inside. In the past 30 years, around 100,000 children and adolescents have taken part in this important competition, which is supported by all federal states.

There are exciting events outside of the music scene: Paul Zauner organized a peace hike from Braunau to Schärding from June 15th to 17th. This event is part of the "Festival of the Regions" in the Innviertel and is intended to address people from all social classes, regardless of their motives for participation. Andreas Mühlleitner has worked out a route that combines both natural experiences and cultural highlights. Here is not only hiked for peace, but also creates a real sense of community.

The next steps for ambitious young musicians: are also certain. The tender for the next competition of "Prima La Musica" will be published in September and registrations will be possible from November. The platform thus remains open to the next generations of classic talents who want to demonstrate their skills.
