Rohrbach-Berg: Secure millions of investments for modern future!
A lot has happened in the district capital Rohrbach-Berg in recent years. Since the association of the municipalities of Rohrbach and Berg a decade ago, numerous construction projects have been tackled. Mayor Andreas Lindorfer looks back and emphasizes: "We have invested over several million euros since 2015 to make our infrastructure fit for the future." These investments have primarily flowed into the innovations of school and sporting institutions. There was a particularly big leap with the new school campus, which was opened at the end of April and cost almost 20 million euros. The school campus comprises the elementary school, middle school, a music school and afternoon care and was launched by a project team that has been working on renovation and redesign since autumn 2017. The architect di Gerald Anton Steiner from Linz was able to prevail in a competition against 16 other planners, as ooewohnbau.at. Lindorfer describes the new educational institution as "space where you like to learn and where everyone wants to go".
sporting renovations and other projects
With the indoor pool, which cost over 15 million euros, the municipality opens another chapter. The funding was taken over by two thirds of the state of Upper Austria and the rest of 37 municipalities. The opening was an emotional moment for Lindorfer, who himself jumped from the three-meter tower. Initially, the water temperature caused critical voices, but the problem has now been fixed.
But it is not only in the school area. The general renovation of the district sports hall, which cost more than two million euros, as well as the fiber optic expansion and the elimination of old water pipes are building blocks of the comprehensive infrastructure renewal. Other large projects include the children's and youth rehab "Kokon", new residential units, the Raiffeisen Center, a roundabout and the new savings market.
Future visions in urban development
With a view to the future, the city plans to design a targeted city square and the creation of a meeting zone. The aim is to reduce the passage in the city, even if complete car freedom in the center is not in sight. "We want to secure quality of life and at the same time relieve the community budget," explains Lindorfer. At the moment, however, it looks as if the household could no longer be compensated for under constant financial framework, which makes the need for further investments even more urgent.
The challenges in front of which Rohrbach-Berg is facing reflect the global urbanization, which, according to UN, requires further developments by 2050. It is important to promote social, climate -friendly and resistant urban development in order to meet the demands of the population. Every small change in cities, such as in Rohrbach-Berg, can have big effects and achieve many people, such as giz.de emphasizes.
Overall, it turns out that Rohrbach-Berg is on the right track to accept the challenges of urbanization and increasing living standards. With future -oriented projects and a clear plan, the community is actively working on improving the quality of life of its citizens.
