Brucknerstraße, 4910 Ried im Innkreis, Österreich - What's in Ried? The city can look back on an exciting weekend, where it again served as a stage destination for the Upper Austria bike tour. On October 19, 2023, racing cyclists rolled over 177.6 kilometers from Eferding to Ried after a successful premiere in 2018. In addition to two demanding mountain stages, this second stage also included two exciting sprint ratings, which the audience had excited to the finish line.

It became particularly dramatic on the day of the race: The first passage of the finish line on Brucknerstrasse took place at 4:15 p.m. - and 45 minutes later than planned. A serious accident had messed up the schedule, but all of this could not reduce the enthusiasm of the audience. After the first crossing, the drivers continued their way, past Hohenzell, Peterskirchen, Tumeltsham and via the B 143 back to Schärdinger Straße.

The winner of the stage was the 27-year-old Pole Marcin Budzinski , who impressively prevailed in the target sprint and thus impressively demonstrated his skills. Budzinski, member of the Att Investment team, has brought it to a mileage of 4130 km in the last 29 days and collected 111 PCS points and 251 UCI points. A performance that certainly deserves respect!

Rieds Mayor Bernhard Zwielehner (ÖVP) was enthusiastic about the event and the impressive performance of the drivers. "A big thank you also goes to our Rieder companies and sponsors who made this event possible," said Zwielehner. The support from the local economy has paid off and helped to position Ried as an attractive location in cycling.

The bike race continues: The next stage leads from Bad Schallerbach to Aigen-Schlägl on October 20, 2023 and extends over 141 kilometers. The crowning glory of the bike tour is formed on Sunday, October 22, 2023, the last stage with the start in St. Florian/Asten and the destination in Hinterstoder, where 132.3 kilometers have to be covered.
