New meeting point on the city square: Domizil replaces Segafredo!

Successor for a popular scene restaurant: The “Domizil-Bar, Club and Livingroom” will open in Steyr in Steyr in June this year. With this new opening, the operators Fabian Mayr (27), Ingo Mitterhuemer (29) and Kevin Rabl (32) want to bring new momentum into the Steyr nightlife. The step takes place after the surprising closure of the once popular Segafredo, which last fought with financial difficulties and had to close his gates after bankruptcy was registered on Thursday. The operator Tina Forster had fought for her bar for two years, which was founded in 1996, but finally could no longer achieve a positive turn.

The Segafredo was an integral part of the Steyr Gastronomy landscape and was considered a cult beis. The economic challenges, especially according to the effects of Corona on the industry, led to the task. According to Forster, day -to -day business was not enough to keep the company profitably. Two full -time staff are affected by the closure, and the operator describes her mood as fluctuating between relief and grief. The positive experiences with the guests are also missing.

New concept and atmosphere

The new "domicile" will come up with a cozy garden and modern night operation. Guests can relax under the planned opening times from Wednesday to Sunday (in good weather) in the garden and immerse themselves in the club operation on Friday and Saturday evening, which will present music from different decades and current hits. Former Segafredo visitors who appreciate nostalgic sounds should be particularly addressed.

"We want to create a place for encounter, music and a good atmosphere," said the operators. The concept is limited to one year, the rental agreement runs until the end of April 2026, and the conversion measures are already in full swing, although the budget is limited. The "domicile" should promote social interaction and thus make an important contribution to nightlife in Steyr.

The role of gastronomy in Austria

The catering sector is an important economic factor in Austria, with a record sales of around 16.7 billion euros. There are over 31,300 gastronomic companies all over Austria, with the largest proportion of restaurants, followed by coffee houses and inns. Vienna is particularly known for its coffee house culture, which was raised by UNESCO in 2011 to form an intangible cultural heritage.
