Starting signal for moving in the park: 700+ free courses from June!
Linz, Österreich - On June 10, 2025, the initiative "moves in the park" in Austria starts. Over 700 free movement courses can then be found in parks and free areas across the country. The courses are intended for all age groups and fitness levels and range from strengthening training to yoga to Tai-Chi and Zumba. “Moving in the park” should motivate to lead a more active lifestyle and to integrate movement into everyday life. This reports Tips .
The courses are accessible without registration and regardless of the weather. You will take place at the same place every week from June to September - except on public holidays. The offer also includes special courses for people with special needs, an important expanded measure that is intended to find a place in public space with the initiative. Details on course times and locations can be called up at www.biebert-im-park.at.
movement for all
The initiative is borne by the Federal Ministry of Living, Art, Culture, Media and Sport in cooperation with various sports associations, the Austrian Health Insurance Fund and other relevant organizations. As part of a broad network, an attempt is made to promote movement promotion in society. The goal is clear: to inspire more people for movement and to promote social exchange through sporting activities. The campaign platform of the ministry emphasizes that no previous knowledge is required and the courses are accessible to everyone.
Since the foundation of "moved in the park" in 2016, the number of participants has developed rapidly. In the first year, around 14,000 people took part in 121 courses, in 2022 there were already more than 115,000 participants: inside in 714 courses. A total of around 550,800 people have been reached in the past eight years. The budget for the initiative in 2024 amounts to 741,000 euros.

The initiative "moves in the park" can also be understood as part of a larger superstructure that deals with the promotion of movement. As part of the round table movement and health, led by the parliamentary State Secretary Sabine Dittmar, many impulses were developed for stronger movement funding in Germany by summer 2023. These aspects are central to raise awareness of the consequences of an active lifestyle in the population, which was also discussed in the Federal Ministry of Health. In summary, it can be said: "Moving in the park" is not just a simple slogan, but a valuable initiative that helps to promote the social interaction and health of the Austrians. Take the opportunity and bring movement to your everyday life!
