Regional airports: Key to the economic future of Austria!

Linz, Österreich - On June 12, 2025, the first

challenges and the future of aviation

The discussions during the forum clarify that the aviation industry faces numerous challenges. The next aviation Symposium, which will take place on September 18, 2025 in Vienna , focuses on future-oriented topics such as new aircraft technologies, sustainable fuel and networking with the train. The need for political framework conditions, regional air traffic and the use of sustainable fuels were also discussed.

The AIA, as a central representative of the Austrian aviation with around 100 member companies, actively demands support for these concerns. Julian Jäger himself is expected as the new president of the AIA, while the industry ensures around 100,000 jobs throughout the country and contributes around 8 billion euros to the gross domestic product (GDP).

sustainability in focus

The discussion about environmental protection is not new in aviation, but is increasingly gaining explosive. According to a report by Roland Berger around 2.8 % of CO2 emissions are eliminated worldwide. In order to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, investments of an estimated $ 5 trillion are required. Innovative approaches, such as the development of the world's largest electrical aircraft, the X1 of Heart Aerospace, could set new standards. Test flights should start at the end of 2023 with a commercial market entry of the ES-30 model for 2028.

Overall, it shows that aviation is faced with fundamental changes and challenges. The expert forum at Linz Airport was the first step into a promising but also demanding future in which close cooperation between everyone involved is required.
